Abstract

The absolute differential cross section for the 2H(γ, p)n reaction has been determined for lab angles of 20°, 45°, 65°, 90°, 115°, 135° and 160°, through the excitation energy range from 17 to 25 MeV. The estimated experimental uncertainty in cross-section values is ±6%. The total cross section is observed to be 20% lower than that calculated by Partovi; angular distribution coefficients also depart appreciably from expected values. Major disagreements appear to originate in the E1 isotropic term and the triplet Ml component of the theory.
