Abstract

We propose in this paper a joint direction of arrival (DOA) and frequency estimation method for the harmonic acoustic signals impinging on a uniform linear sensor array. Instead of treating the estimations of DOA and frequency as two separated problems, where the sparsity in one dimension can merely be considered, we exploit the 2D sparsity, i.e., the sparsity in both spatial and frequency domains to achieve two dimensional high resolution. In addition, due to the fact that harmonics with the same fundamental frequency are probably belonging to the same source, the joint spasity is further considered to estimate each DOA among different frequencies to eliminate the spatial aliasing. Results of numerical simulations show that the proposed method outperforms the current state-of-the-art ones for harmonic acoustic signals.
