Abstract
The presence of α 2-adrenoceptors and I 2 sites in the central nervous system is well established. This review provides a complete summary of this literature, commencing with the first description of α 2-adrenoceptors and I 2 sites in the brain and covering in detail their subclassification, distribution, and function. Furthermore, it highlights some important differences between central α 2-adrenoceptors and I 2 sites.
