Abstract
Recently, twenty percent of Japanese have insomnia problems. The final aim of our project is to develop a sleep inducing and relaxation machine having rocking motion. As rocking motion, the motion of a mother's embracing and rocking of a baby is adopted. In this paper, we verify sleep inducing effect by the mother's rocking motion. For this purpose, we analyze the mother's rocking motion and derive two models for baby's motion consisting of linear motion and rotation motion. We propose a judgment method of sleep stage using EEG signal. It is found that the mother's rocking motion has sleep inducing effect as compared with the case without rocking vibration. The mother's rocking motion is realized in the excitation apparatus which we have developed.
