Abstract

Little is known about the role of race on the prevalence of genital injury following rape or sexual assault. A recent study suggested that individuals with darker skin may be at a disadvantage for injury identification with the current examination strategies (direct visualization, contrast media, colposcopy), and color awareness may be an important component of the sexual assault forensic examination.
