Abstract

Principles of laser therapy in dermatology are that laser light of a specific wavelength, which is optimally absorbed by the target tissue, is given to the lesion area to increase tissue temperature and damage the target tissue. At present there are a lot of apparatuses of hand peace type and the their spot diameters are as large as 3〜7mm in diameter. When the laser beam is irradiated to a wide area, it is thought that normal tissues which don't contain the melanins are hardly damaged by the laser irradiation. But in reality the terrible burn appears in the normal tissues after the laser irradiation. To solve these problems, we have developed new type of laser therapy apparatus with laser focusing and laser scanning technology using the shrink fitter. The effects of a focused laser irradiation with this apparatus on the lesion tissue were examined.
