Abstract

Kansai International Airport, the first fully developed offshore airport, is being constructed in the southeastern part of Osaka Bay, some 300 miles southeast of Tokyo. The superstructure of Kansai International Airport will be built on an artificial island approximately 5 km off the coast of the Senshu District. The island area is 5.11 million m2. The depth of water at the construction site is approximately 18 m.
