Abstract

The Canoe Journey is a revival of the traditional methods of transportation and cultural exchange for the participating American Indian, Alaska Native, and Canadian First Nations communities. The Canoe Journey began in 1989 commemorating the signing of the Centennial Accord by the state and indigenous governments recognizing indigenous sovereignty.
