Abstract

Numu Toomadegune (Way of the People)—The Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe (PLPT) project has been developed using a community-based participatory (CBP) approach by a collaborative team. This team met once a month during the school year 2012/2013 and explored the values, traditions, stories, and language of the Cui Ui Tecutte/Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe. The goal was to synthesize the language, culture, values, and traditions of the Cui Ui Tecutte, with the school-based School-wide, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support System (SWPBIS). Core beliefs of the team also included “a central belief in change and change processes. . . cultural competence is not only a desired product, but also a crucial element of the strategic planning process. . .”
