Abstract

Inpatient dermatology consults are an integral aspect of dermatology resident training. These cases allow for managing acute and life-threatening dermatologic disorders, exploring complex medical dermatology in an acute care setting, and working in interdisciplinary teams to promote patient care. Residents often feel unprepared to care for such complicated patients due to lack of specific training for the inpatient setting. We outline one program’s approach to logging inpatient cases and the creation of training modules given to PGY-2 residents prior to seeing inpatient dermatology consults.
