Abstract

Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) has been estimated to affect 15-20% of the adult population leading to an economic impact of 8,799 Euro ($13,752 CAD) per patient year. This is not surprising since the majority (60% of males, 73% of females) of those affected by ACD report interferences with their leisure activities, sex lives, and social lives. The formal diagnosis of ACD is contingent on patch testing; our study aims to assess the access to patch testing across Canada. With the help of the American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS), a survey was sent to all Canadian members (40 practitioners) of which 23 responded.
