Abstract
Background: Medical billing and coding remain increasingly complicated and confusing issues for young and old dermatologists alike, often causing inconsistencies in billing among providers. Over and under billing are a common source of audits in private practice, and a source of angst for many physicians. There is an increasing emphasis on billing and coding as part of residency education; however, few studies have been done to date on resident proficiency in billing and coding.
