Abstract

Catatonia is a neuropsychiatric condition that is believed to be rare in children and adolescents, but challenges in the diagnosis of catatonia, including its polymorphous presentation and overlap with other mental health and developmental disorders, may lead to underdiagnosis in the pediatric population. Once recognized, timely intervention is required to prevent the significant morbidity and mortality associated with this condition.
