Abstract
We report a 27Al nuclear magnetic resonance study of CeAuAl 3 at frequencies between 1 and 77 MHz and temperatures from 0.04 up to 300 K. CeAuAl 3 is a new heavy-electron compound that orders antiferromagnetically at 1.32 K. Based on our NMR results we suggest that the magnetic structure of the AF ordered state of CeAuAl 3 is of a simple spiral type with the ordered Ce moments aligned ferromagnetically within the basal planes of tetragonal CeAuAl 3. We estimate a reduction of the Ce magnetic moments of less than 25%, which we associate with a weak Kondo screening.
