Abstract

Excess gestational weight gain has been shown to be associated with obstetrical complications including macrosomia, neonatal metabolic abnormalities, and risk of cesarean delivery. Obesity is a known independent risk factor for the development of gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes (GDM) complicates 2-5% of all pregnancies and is known to be associated with increased risk of maternal and neonatal morbidities. We sought to collect observational data concerning the extent of maternal and neonatal outcomes in obese women with GDM in the context of a spectrum of weight gains in pregnancy.
