Abstract

BACKGROUND CONTEXT: Rigid interspinous process fixation (ISPF) has garnered consideration as a less disruptive alternative to pedicle screw fixation (PSF) when supplementing spinal arthrodesis; however, no study has provided Level I evidence regarding the efficacy of ISPF as compared to PSF. This was a prospective, randomized, controlled study to comparatively assess ISPF and PSF in anterior and lateral interbody fusion.
