Abstract

AbstractFence‐type aluminum electrode was prepared on soda‐lime glass substrate by chemically etching aluminum foil which was bonded to the substrate via anodic‐bonding process. Several different designs of the fence‐type sustaining electrode were attempted and its effects on optical transmittance were examined. Test panels with those fence‐type aluminum electrodes were prepared and their firing voltages, luminance and luminance efficiency were measured and compared with conventional ac‐PDPs. The results demonstrated a possibility of using aluminum electrode for front plate of ac‐PDDs.
