Abstract

In the present study, the interaction of liquid droplets and liquid bubbles in a high speed gas flow is re-examined by using a shock tube equipped with a pulsed laser pholographic interferometer. Constructing double exposure image holograms, we have, in the same experiment.both a hologram equivalent to the shadowgraph and its reconstraction, i.e interferogram.By comparing these photographs it is revealed that the shadowgraph can not show the detailed structure of the wake flowbehind the disintegrating droplets and overestimates the droplet diameter.
