Abstract

Hemolysis of blood samples is a common problem encountered in the emergency department (ED); it leads to inaccurate blood results and has implications to cost as blood samples are very often retaken. The purpose of our study was to investigate the various methods of sampling blood commonly used in the ED and to determine which factors correlate with higher rates of hemolysis.
