Abstract

A 57-year-old man presented with a 3-month history of increased hair loss on the scalp. There were no other identifiable factors associated with his current condition apart from a commencement of prazosin for hypertension. This was commenced three months ago before the diagnosis was considered by his treating nephrologist. Following the cessation of prazosin and biopsy, he was diagnosed with drug-induced alopecia areata (DIAA) The patient has a long-standing history of cardiovascular diseases including difficult to manage hypertension on polypharmacy.
