Abstract

Background: Even though skin cancers in Asian patients are more likely to present in advanced stages and result in poorer survival rates, Asian Americans have lower rates of dermatology outpatient visits compared to other racial groups. Disaggregated data of Asian American subgroups reveal that Chinese Americans have the lowest level of health literacy, directly correlating with poorer health outcomes. This study evaluated current gaps in health care delivery, particularly as it pertains to outpatient dermatology visits by Chinese Americans.
