Abstract

Background: Graduate medical programs must conduct an annual program evaluation as per the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) common program requirements. Although general guidelines for program evaluation exist, innovative yet practical approaches to program evaluation are seldom reported. Appreciative Inquiry (AI) offers such an approach by focusing on successful moments, effective processes, and program strengths while also allowing for identification of problems by reframing deficiency-focused language into desires or possibilities.
