Abstract

A machine is described that gives information about the ‘bedding-down’ effect that occurs when a carpet is laid on a floor and before much actual abrasion or loss of fibre takes place. The results are correlated with corridor wearing trials and a discussion is given on some aspects of the effect of carpel construction on loss of thickness during laboraiory tests.
