Abstract

Plastic waste has raised significant concerns in the community. The increasing use of plastic causes the problem. It is shown that from 6,875 to 7,000 tons of garbage in Jakarta, 33% is plastic waste. This problem triggered by the lack of public awareness on the impact of plastic waste on the environment. One of the efforts that can be done to reduce these impacts is to increase public understanding and awareness of the dangers of plastic waste to the environment. Nowadays, there have been many dissemination and campaigns to disseminate public awareness about the environment. One of the widely used dissemination media is through video animation. The animation is expected to be able to visualize a concept, object, relationship, state, process, and work procedure so that it can provide a good understanding of the audience. The purpose of this paper is to describe how to make and use 2.5D video animation media to disseminate the impact of using plastic on the environment. The animated videos are created using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method. After testing, the 2.5D animation video can provide a good understanding of the public about how plastic waste can damage the environment both on land and at sea.
