Abstract
Abstract The incidence of anastomotic leakage in esophagectomy and reconstruction surgery is reported over 10%. We have used subtotal stomach (SS) for reconstruction. We retrospectively examined the results of SS reconstruction, postoperative weight changes, and quality of life. We have used SNS to deal with postoperative dietary problems. We also have devised a method for combined oral nutritional supplementation by the conceot of ‘Taking a ONS along with the meal by knowing appetite: Tanaka Method. 400 cases. Anastomotic leakage was found in 2 cases (0.50%). Many cases of early feeling of fullness were observed at 3 months. The patients’ body weights, median [interquartile range], were as follows: pretreatment, 54.1 [48.9,59.9] Kg: 12 months postoperatively, 52.75[47.5–59.15] Kg: 36 months postoperatively, 52.55[47.35–59.2] Kg: 60 months postoperatively, 51.2 [46.25,58.45] Kg. SS reconstruction seems to be feasible.
