Abstract

A tattoo is implantation of permanent pigment granules into the skin, derived from the Tahitian word “tattau” which means “to mark.” Tattoo removal using lasers is safe but complications include pain, blistering, crusting acutely, and delayed pigmentary changes and allergic reactions. We present a case of a woman who developed contact allergy to red dye pigment following laser tattoo removal. A 30-year-old woman presented with an itchy rash over her body which started after laser removal for a tattoo she had 8 years ago.
