Abstract

Product sound has been recognized as a factor of kansei quality. Most of conventional work for designing product sound quality has focused on finding relations between sound characteristics and human kansei. The perception of product sound is, however, affected by background noise as well as the product sound characteristics, i.e. loudness, sharpness etc. The context where a user interacts with a product may affect to the perception of sound quality. In this paper, we propose to relate evaluating kansei quality of product sound in a laboratory and that in a real environment. Then we research how back ground noise and context change value of kansei quality of product sound.
