Abstract
The long-term care data system being developed in Colorado is based on a patient-oriented approach. Patient descriptors and corresponding care needs are used to determine optimum care environments, and to construct an integrated patient/facility data base for evaluating patient care. Simultaneously, the Colorado project is developing an automated, interactive data system that will assist the programs for state licensure and federal certification of long-term health facilities and provide data on patients and facilities for the Cooperative Health Statistics System (CHSS) and state and local agencies.
