Abstract
Reading instruction and reading outcomes have become a top priority in the United States, partly because of the emphasis placed on them by the federal government. Of paramount concern is poor reading achievement among large numbers of children. This article article encourages teachers to use technology to accomplish the goals of effective reading instruction. It is a compilation of websites that introduce practical activities aligned with the “five pillars” of effective instruction identified by the U.S. National Reading Panel (NRP). Each website description includes an explanation of how the activities featured on the site fit with the principles of the NRP report.
