Abstract
Although parent management training (PMT) is the first line of treatment for preschoolers with externalizing behavior problems, current PMT models tend to be less effective for families in poverty. This pragmatic randomized trial compared the effectiveness and cost of 2 different PMT models among low-income, predominantly African American families of children aged 2–5 years seeking treatment for behavior problems. Parent satisfaction, PMT completion rates, and the impact of psychosocial adversity on completion rates were also compared.
