Abstract

Human influenza-specific CD8+ T cell responses during acute infection are not well characterized. Robust influenza-specific CD8+ T cell responses during acute infection are important in preventing influenza-associated morbidity and mortality in animal models, especially in animals without pre-existing anti-influenza antibodies. We set out to characterize influenza-specific CD8+ T cell responses in human subjects who presented to the emergency department with acute symptomatic seasonal influenza infection.
