Abstract
Cavitation surge, that is one of the cavitation instabilities, have been analyzed theoretically using a three-blade cascade model. Although cavitation surge is reproduced by numerical simulation, there are a few detailed discussions on the occurrence condition and frequency. In this paper, in order to estimate the mass flow gain factor and the cavitation compliance, which are closely related to the occurrence condition and frequency of cavitation surge, numerical analysis of cavitating flow around the three-blade cascade had been done. Then, cavitation surge characteristics were discussed by comparing theoretical and numerical occurrence condition.
