Abstract

The superior clinical outcome of new continuous flow left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) challenges the physiological dogma that cardiovascular homeostasis requires pulsatile blood flow and pressure. We hypothesized that continuous flow LVAD impair baroreflex regulation of heart rate (HR) and sympathetic nerve traffic (MSNA).
