Abstract

Multiple factors related to immunosuppression are associated with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC), for example, the increased risk of cSCC observed in immunosuppressed organ transplant recipients, which in turn can lead to death. Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) are known to have dysregulated immune systems; however, the impact of cSCC on mortality in ESRD has not been reported. Therefore, we addressed this question by analyzing the mortality of adult ESRD patients in the US Renal Data System between 2004 and 2014, excluding organ transplant recipients.
