Abstract
This work was initiated to evaluate the efficacy of post-operative adjuvant high dose rate brachytherapy(HDRB) as an alternative to post-operative adjuvant external radiation in resected T1 and T2 cancer of the oral tongue with positive or close (under 5 mm) margins. While local control and cure remained the primary objectives of treatment; minimizing the treatment morbidity, limiting the extent of surgical resection, and avoiding the complications of external beam radiotherapy to the oral cavity were our secondary objectives.
