Abstract

Teens’ disproportionate sexual & reproductive health (SRH) risks are related in part to deficiencies in the care and education that they receive in both clinical and academic settings. As key stakeholders in adolescent health, pediatricians must be better prepared to tackle these issues, which can be challenging without suitably robust, diverse SRH training experiences in residency. Our project, turning pediatric residents into SRH teachers for high-risk students, provides valuable opportunities to improve trainees’ necessary knowledge and communication skills, while also favorably impacting adolescents’ decision-making.
