Abstract

This study deals with a theory to estimate back bead width of a molten pool using information of molten pool shape and oscillation in automatic Tig welding. The natural frequency of a molten pool is detected using an arc sensor and the back bead width is estimated from bead width and a natural frequency of the molten pool. The molten pool vibration is analysed as a general dynamics vibration phenomenon in this study. As a result of experiments, it was verified that the proposed method is effective for estimating the back bead width.
