Abstract

CC chemokine ligand (CCL) 19 and 21 are lymphoid chemokines important to the homing of naïve and memory T cells to lymphoid tissue and to the formation of lymphoid-like stroma in alloimmune response. In lungs that develop chronic graft dysfunction, lymphoid neogenesis containing memory T cells has been identified. Moreover, a study of human lungs with chronic graft dysfunction has also demonstrated overexpression of CCL21 by stromal resident cells. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of CCL21 in the formation of lymphoid-like stroma in chronic graft dysfunction.
