Abstract

Machine elements and large structures often contain many kinds of discontinuous cross sections and initial defects. The fatigue cracks commonly initiate at these sites under repeated loadings. So, the estimation of low-cycle fatigue life under variation loading is one of the most important technology for the machine structures. In this study the low-cycle fatigue tests of smooth and notched specimens under three-step repetition loading were conducted using C6161P-O and A7075-T651. The testing machine used is an electro-hydraulic servo testing instrument. The fatigue damage on the basis of Miner's rule connected with stress-strain behavior were investigated physically after analyzing test results.
