Abstract

The chapter contains a brief review on the crystal chemistry of uranium oxides and minerals with particular attention to the achievements made in the recent 10–15 years. The topics covered include: coordination geometries of uranium in oxides and oxocompounds in different oxidation states, anion-topology approach to systematics of uranium oxides, hydroxides and derivative complex oxides and oxosalts, graph theory analysis of complex uranium oxosalt structures, monodentate versus bidentate coordination in uranyl oxosalts with tetrahedral oxoanions, nanoscale uranium oxide structures, dimensional reduction, and cation–cation interactions in uranyl compounds.
