Abstract
Simulation experiments in vitro related to a flow in an artery applied to a high external pressure locally by surrounding tissue were performed. A thin-walled silicone rubber tube was placed on a protuberence and was applied an external pressure using a small size pneumatic cuff. The effect of local compression on a tube law and flow in the tube were investigated. As a result, a tube law changes at the positive transmural pressure region due to a bend of the tube. A clearance between a cuff and a protuberence affects a cuff pressure when a tube is open.
