Abstract

Publisher Summary Ubiquinone as a class can be separated from other lipids by chromatography on alumina columns and thin layers of silica gel G. However, to separate the various isoprenologs, reverse-phase chromatography both on paper and thin layers of silica gel are used. This chapter describes the procedure for separation of various isoprenologs by both paper chromatography and thin layers chromatography. The chapter also discusses the elution from the paper. Ubiquinones are eluted from the dried chromatographic paper with light petroleum or chloroform. It has been found that they can be eluted quantitatively from papers even after leucomethylene blue spray.
