Abstract
In 2019, the outlook for child and adolescent mental health services is disconcerting because of mental health facility closures and fewer hospital beds. Nationally, minority populations are overrepresented, with higher rates of mental disorders and more barriers to accessing care. Immigrant students experience anxiety with government decrees that threaten the stability of their home and family, compounding concerns for increasing suicide and self-harm. Strengthening of schools’ mental health resource capacity improves identification, assessments, treatments, and outcomes for youth and their families.
