Abstract
We succeeded in development of a novel gel-pump-embedded microchip. The gel actuator directly converts the chemical energy of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction to the mechanical energy. The gel pump generates the adequate force as the micro-pump in the novel microchip system. The gel-pump-embedded microchip requires no electric cord and electric power source. That is because the microchip includes chemical energy source. The microchip does not need connection to the conventional syringe pumps. Therefore, the microchip avoids any contamination.
