Abstract

Calciphylaxis is a rare thrombotic vasculopathy characterized by high mortality with worse outcomes in nephrogenic(NC) compared to non-nephrogenic(NNC) calciphylaxis. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy(HBOT) may be used in the treatment of calciphylaxis, however, studies analyzing the effectiveness of HBOT for calciphylaxis are lacking. This study involved a retrospective medical record review of 185 adult patients with diagnosed calciphylaxis between 1/1/2006-12/31/21. For each patient, the main calciphylaxis lesion, defined as the largest or most documented lesion, was longitudinally scored based on dermatologist assessment from chart review and photographs.
