Abstract

Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is a very useful technique of velocity filed measurement of a fluid flow. The fluid flow seeded with small particles is visualized by a laser light sheet illumination. Then the visualized images of the flow recorded by illuminations within short time difference are analyzed to obtain the velocity distribution in the illuminated plane in the flow. However some time the accuracy of measurement is restricted by noise images of particle, which are not paired, and strong rotational component of velocity. Therefor additional-processing methods are required to improve this technique by removal of noise images of particle and by considering rotational component. In this paper, a removal method of noise images and an additional technique to process the image including rotational component are proposed as additional-processing technique for PIV images and examined by using synthetic PIV images.
