Abstract

This paper deals with the torsion problem of an elastic thick walled cylinder with two semicircular notches at the inner surface. A method of fundamental solution is presented for the stress concentration problem by using Green's functions for torsional body force problems of an elastic thick walled infinite cylinder. Green's functions are defined as the solution to an infinite elastic thick walled cylinder subjected to a torsional body force acting in the interior of the cylinder. Influences of notch radii and thickness ratios of hollow cylinders on the stress concentrations are investigated by numerical calculations.
