Abstract

This paper describes a proposal of new steering system. Steering system without changing the hand holding position provides easy operation of vehicles and reducing loads in the operation. However steering wheel by low steering gear ratio is not suitable for vehicle control. This specification augments correction steering and unstable control. In contrast, proposal steering system of bar shape can be smoothly steer the vehicle. We conducted driving simulator experiment to investigate the change in the driver model between steering shapes. As the result of the experiment, operation by the steering wheel is high steering gain and low time constant in the driver model, hi contrast, operation by proposal steering is low steering gain and high tune constant in the driver model. From the result, operation by the steering system of bar shapes is maneuverable in low steering gear ratio.
