Abstract

In gas flow and formation of fuel-air mixture in cylinder of a direct injection natural gas engine jet velocity and shape of the piston upper surface where the jet impinges have great influence. To know about flow phenomena of flow and air in the cylinder is important to develop for increasing combustion efficiency and decreasing pollutant gas. In this study, methane is injected in closed vessel likened to engine cylinder. Shapes of impinging surface are flat, dish and sphere and closed vessel is two-dimensional. Effects of impinging surface shape on flow behaviors of jet before and after jet impinging to the surface and motion of surrounding air are examined by numerical simulation using CFD code, CFD2000.
