Abstract

Metal matrix Composites was fabricated by infiltration of AC8A molten aluminum alloy to FeCrSi metal fiber preform using gravity casting. On this process, pressure of molten alloy with 0.8MPa and one direction infiltration of molten alloy to preform lead to obtain fully infiltrated composites with 0% porosity. The high temperature tensile strength and fatigue strength of the composite between room temperature and 350℃ was estimated. The composites have excellent fatigue strength at higher temperature. Furthermore crack introduced by fatigue at high temperature propagate in matrix around metal fiber with necking of metal fiber.
